280ZX
Originally I purchased the silver 280ZX as a cheap commuter in July of 2000 for $800. It did not take long before I really enjoyed driving this car. I thought if I could get 6 months out the car it would be money well spent. The 280ZX ran for a year and a half before the first big problem. I was not sure that I wanted to put a lot of money into a $800.00 car. But just for fun I checked on the price of parts to fix the car. And for about $70.00 I replaced the head gasket and the car was on the road again. In February 03 I bought 2 280ZXs for parts a 79 and another 82 for 850.00$.And just for fun I tried to get the red 82 280ZX running. And after buying a ignition module at the local junk yard for $10.00 it ran! So now we have Father and Son 82 280ZXs. While most money and time is spent on routine maintenance, I have added a rear spoiler and rear louvers. My son has changed all the interior light to red and is working on his "sound system" as I type.
This winter 03-04 has not been a good time for our Datsuns.
But we have learned some things.
